HEATPUMP INFORMATION

So what does the modern domestic heatpump look like?

Standard hiwall Standard Hiwall - The most commonly recognised heatpump this system has an indoor unit (shown) which mounts on the wall and is connected via copper pipework and wiring to an outdoor unit.
   
Cassette Unit Cassette Unit - Installed more in offices and shops than in houses these units have a high powered fan to ensure an even spread of air over a large area. They are connected via copper pipework and wiring to an outdoor unit.
   
Floor Console Floor Console - Compact and stylish these units are mounted on the wall at or just above floor level. They are not as obtrusive as a high wall and have top as well as bottom air discharge. Good for high stud houses they are connected via copper pipework and wiring to an outdoor unit
   
Ducted Unit Ducted Unit – These systems comprise an indoor unit (shown) which is concealed either in the ceiling or under a floor and are connected via copper pipework and wiring to an outdoor unit. Connected to the indoor unit is supply and return air ductwork which enables air to be distributed evenly throughout the house via floor or ceiling grilles.
   
Outdoor Unit Outdoor Unit – All split system heatpumps consist of one or more indoor units (a selection of which are shown above) and an outdoor unit. The outdoor unit can be located up to 20m away from the indoor unit and is connected to the indoor unit via two gas pipes and wiring. Where exposed this inter-unit pipework and wiring is enclosed in PVC ducting.can be positioned on brackets on a roof, on a wall or mounted on a solid base on the ground. It is essential that there is adequate airflow around the outdoor unit.
