HEATPUMP
INFORMATION
How can it get heat from cold outside air?
During heating, a heatpump absorbs heat from the outside air through
the outdoor unit finned coil (even at temperatures below zero there is
still heat in the outside air) and rejects this heat through the indoor
unit finned coil. Because the indoor unit finned coil is fan assisted
this enables a good throw of heat from the indoor unit throughout the
room. During heating this process is reversed (hence the term “reverse
cycle”) whereby the indoor unit absorbs heat from the room (thereby
cooling the room) and rejects this heat through the outdoor unit.
